It's the second week of October and this weekend marks the second (and final) weekend of the National Apple Harvest Festival in Adams County. In the event you aren't a dumpling or pie person (possible, I suppose), check out what Outside magazine calls their favorite fall camping breakfast: Apple Sweet Potato Hash. It looks like it might work indoors as well!

The masthead shot this week? 2018 Critics' Choice winner in the Built Environment category by Linda Stager at Colton Point State Park - the perfect place for a fall picnic.

Amanda Trimmer, Outreach Coordinator

We've just wrapped up the voting in our annual Parks and Forests Through the Seasons photo contest and the photograph receiving the most votes (and is therefore the People's Choice as Best in Show) is

Jennifer Esken's photo taken in Lackawanna State Park. Check out all the winners in each category on our Facebook page.

There are only a few days left to get your Get Out....Side  T'shirts!  www.bonfire.com/ppffproud/

Marci attended the annual gathering of state park foundation directors from across North America. One tour included a discussion on volunteerism and mitigating impacts of a surge in visitors. These stairs were built by volunteers to improve access and safety while reducing erosion at Smith Rock State Park.

Mark your calendars for November 16th.

Don't forget to bookmark our events calendar and the DCNR Calendar of Events to find all the fun you need this month.
