News of Note
Members of the PPFF Board of Directors joined members of
the West Shore Chamber of Commerce to officially dedicate our new office last week. Also
on hand was a staff member from Representative Delozier's office to welcome us
to the district. Stop in and see us if you are in the neighborhood!
While we weren't going to talk about it, there are a number of weather-related news items to discuss: flooding at French Creek this week has left the campground and many of the day use areas devastated, predicted heat has postponed a few volunteer events that I've heard about (and probably many more that I haven't) including the Forbes State Forest pop-up trail work for today (trying again next Friday) and new Friends of Michaux for tomorrow (off until August 10). A wise volunteer, event participant, or park/forest visitor will check ahead for the fate of planned activities. Many Pennsylvania steams, lakes, rivers, pools remain open and welcoming!
Speaking of welcoming, the York Revolution is welcoming PPFF for a night of baseball on Saturday, August 17 as the Revs take on cross-town rivals, the Lancaster Barnstormers. Box seats are available for $10/person through this special link ONLY.
Speaking of ribbon cuttings, the new bath house at Colonel Denning State Park is open and ready for business and the rejuvenated Friends of Colonel Denning are hoping that sparks some interest in the group going forward. If Doubling Gap doubles your fun, come to see what's what on Monday evening at 6:00 at Pavilion #1.
The first meeting of a potential Friends of Trough Creek was well-attended with high enthusiasm. The second meeting will take place on August 12 at 6:00 PM in the park's Pavilion #1. If you missed the meeting but would like to complete the planning survey for the group, drop me a line.
