A time (and paper and money) saving device for us this year was the production of our 2019 annual report as a video rather than a printed piece. We think it's an effective look at the year in review. Like the photo says, thank you for your investment in our state parks and forests! Find it on our YouTube channel, of course.
Last Saturday, Bill and I delivered to the Forbes State Forest office the last of 14 cases of 12 32-ounce bottles of hand sanitizer donated to state park and forest employees by CPW Equipment of Waynesboro (Franklin County). We took the opportunity to drive up to Laurel Summit State Park, have a little picnic, and stroll out the accessible trail to the Spruce Bog. As you can see, the sky was dramatic and, although the parking lot was full, the boardwalk itself was deserted. The adventure concluded with ice cream, natch. Why not? Bill is this week's jigsaw.
Forbes Educator Rachael shared the happy news on Wednesday that the Forest District's trail maps have all been updated and are now available on the DCNR website.
Starting to think fall planting? Check out the "2020 Birdy Dozen" from PA Audubon and include some natives in the plant plan.
Thank you for those who completed the survey to help us with our strategic planning. One item was consistent - you appreciate our advocacy work. We just took a step to make it easier to be a voice for your parks and forests with the acquisition of software which we hope to unveil in September. Not only will it save staff time tracking bills important to our parks and forests, it will make it easier for you to contact your elected officials. Stay tuned for the big reveal!
Reminder! Tomorrow is Paint and Scrape day at the Samuel S. Lewis State Park environmental education center. Join Marci for an hour or two of stewardship for this great little park! Can you help? Sign up here. |
